SYNOPSIS:“Written in the style of the Mexican
telenovella – "La Atrevida" is a play about a
fallen pop star and the one journalist who hasn't
give up on her. Mercedes Valdez is delusional
with regard to her place in music history. Scott
Johnson is just confused. He believes there is
a story there. There might be, but is isn't one he
wants to write.Set in an interview room in a
federal penitentiary. "La Atrevida" traces the
rise and fall of a pop star and an ideal."

No, Mercy.  I wish I was but I’m not.

MERCY
You wish…

SCOTT
I wish you weren’t so sexy and so – I don’t know - compelling.  I wish I wasn’t so obsessed
with the truth – the real truth - about Mercy Valdez. I wish I could let go of my fascination
with you and go off somewhere and write a novel or something.
